We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.- Paul
Living life on mission is not just a calling; it’s a lifestyle. As ambassadors for Christ, we are entrusted with the ministry of reconciliation—bringing the message of hope to a hurting world. Each moment we embrace this mission becomes an opportunity to extend God’s kingdom, activate divine appointments, and experience Kairos moments—the “right time” where God’s purposes intersect with our obedience.
Kairos at Light the Night
This past week, I witnessed a series of Kairos moments that left me in awe of God’s intricate plan. Kerry and Kristin, a couple new to the West Boca Campus, first encountered Christian Life Center during our “Light the Night” outreach event. Drawn by the hope and joy they experienced that evening, they decided to visit our Sunday service.
During my sermon, I shared about the Menorah House ministry, where we bring the light of Christ to a local assisted living facility. As I spoke, the Holy Spirit was already at work. Kerry and Kristin were stunned—Kerry’s mom, Sandra, is a resident at Menorah House! In that moment, it became clear that God was orchestrating something far greater than any of us could imagine.
Their connection to Menorah House wasn’t a coincidence; it was a confirmation of God’s Kairos. This divine alignment reminded me of the story of Esther, a young woman positioned “for such a time as this.”
Esther’s Kairos Moments
The story of Esther is a powerful illustration of living life on mission. Esther, an orphaned Jewish girl, was raised by her uncle Mordecai in exile. Against all odds, she was chosen to be queen of Persia, a position that would place her in the heart of a divine plan to save her people.
When a decree was issued to annihilate the Jews, Esther found herself at a crossroad. Mordecai’s words in Esther 4:14 are both sobering and empowering:
Who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?
Despite her fears, Esther embraced her Kairos moment. Through prayer, fasting, and courageous faith, she approached King Xerxes, risking her life to plead for the salvation of her people.
Like Esther, we all have moments when God calls us to step out in faith, trusting His timing and purposes. These moments often require us to:
1. Recognize the Gifts God Has Given Us
Esther didn’t choose her circumstances, but she recognized her position as a gift from God. Similarly, we must embrace our unique SHAPE—Spiritual gifts, Heart, Abilities, Personality, and Experiences.
2. Identify Needs That Link with Our Passions
Esther’s heart was stirred by the plight of her people. What stirs your heart? For Kerry and Kristin, their connection to Menorah House became a doorway to living life on mission, allowing their faith to intersect with the needs of others.
3. Be Willing to Face Our Fears
Esther’s bravery reminds us that fear doesn’t disqualify us; it propels us to rely on God. Whether it’s speaking up, stepping out, or trusting God with the unknown, we are called to courageously follow His lead.
4. Make a Commitment to Move Forward in Courage
Like Esther, Kerry and Kristin chose to take the next step of faith. Their decision to engage with West Boca Campus and embrace their connection to Menorah House is a testimony of obedience to God’s Kairos moments.
Living Life on Mission
God is constantly positioning us for His purposes, aligning our gifts, passions, and opportunities with His divine plan. When we embrace our Kairos moments, we step into the story God is writing—not just for us, but for the lives we are called to impact.
Kerry and Kristin’s journey is a reminder that living life on mission is not about perfection; it’s about willingness. As they connect their faith to action, they are experiencing the joy of being part of God’s reconciliation work.
Your Kairos Moment
What about you? Are you willing to seize the divine opportunities God places in your path? Like Esther, you may feel unqualified or afraid, but remember this: God uses ordinary people for extraordinary purposes.
Let the story of Esther and the testimony of Kerry and Kristin inspire you to live with boldness and faith. Together, let’s embrace our Kairos moments and walk confidently into the mission God has prepared for us.
“And who knows but that you have come to your position for such a time as this?”
(Esther 4:14, NIV)
